Seminal L.A. Rock Band The Doors wished to update their web presence in order to better “own” their online brand. We rebuilt TheDoors.com from the ground up to better serve the existing fanbase, as well as help new fans discover the band, with a particular focus on international markets.
Cooperation with management and the official Doors archivist yielded thousands of content touchpoints for The Doors, including interviews, articles, photographs, audio, and more. We rebuilt TheDoors.com on Drupal, using Drupal Commerce to power the integrated online shopping experience. By providing clear-text context to all content we optimized the user experience and dramatically improved search engine optimization. We integrated official merchandise as content, ensuring that the entire site functions as an official online retail environment for The Doors with products related directly to relevant Doors albums, performances, and milestones.
The result is an effective and award-winning eCommerce site for one of America’s greatest Rock and Roll bands. The beautiful “contextual commerce” platform improved the online performance of the brand dramatically.
